Check out the Medina County District Library’s holiday programs

MEDINA, Ohio — The Medina County District Library is offering an intriguing selection of holiday programs throughout the month of December.

Letters to Santa, Reindeer Food & Elf on the Shelf: Dec 1-22, all library locations.

Snuggle Up & Read: December 1-29. Create a cozy evening for children in need by donating new books and pajamas at any MCDL location. Volunteers will package PJs with a book, then distribute them to Medina County children.

Winter StoryWalk: Beginning Dec. 1: MCDL offers two StoryWalks — one at Carolyn Ludwig Mugrage Park, 4985 Windfall Road in Medina (in partnership with Medina County Parks) and the other behind Eliza Northrop Elementary School, 950 E. Reagan Pkwy in Medina (with the Medina City Schools ).

Take a short walk through a wooded area and read “A Polar Bear in the Snow” by Mac Barnett on a series of story boards. The walk promotes literacy, physical activity and spending time together as a family. The same book is featured at both locations.

Lodi Library’s Winter Wonderland: 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 3 in the Lodi Village Square. Kick off your holiday season with a visit from Santa, reindeer from Spring Mist Farms, horse-drawn wagon rides, face painting, crafts, a bonfire and treats! Held in conjunction with the Village of Lodi Village, the Lodi Harrisville Historical Society and the Lodi Railroad Museum.

Gingerbread House Contest: December 5-19. All ages. Submit a photo of your gingerbread house to [email protected] for a chance to win a prize.

Santa’s Elf Workshop: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Buckeye Library, 6625 Wolff Road in Medina. All ages with an accompanying adult. Calling all Santa’s elves: Join the staff at the “North Pole” for crafts, caroling and holiday fun featuring special guest Santa Claus.

Visit with Santa: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8 a.m Medina Library, 210 S. Broadway St. into Medina. All ages. Santa Claus is coming to town! Bring your list and cameras to have a nice visit with the gentleman from the North Pole.

Picture Book Bulbs: 10:30 a.m. Dec. 12 at the Medina Library. Ages 3 and older. Make a beautiful ornament for your tree with pages from picture books.

Ghosts of Christmas Past: 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Highland Library, 4160 Ridge Road in Medina. Enjoy a Victorian holiday season and explore the ghosts and folklore that shaped 19th century holidays in Cleveland. Presented by the Western Reserve Historical Society.

Gingerbread Building: 6 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Medina Library. Ages 5 and older. Decorate a gingerbread house. Bring candy to share and decorate your creations.

Santa Night: 6 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Seville Library, 45 Center St. in Seville. All ages. Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Don’t forget to bring your list.

Holidays with Pete the Cat Story Time: 10:30 a.m. Dec. 14 at the Buckeye Library. Acts 2-5. Stories about everyone’s favorite cat, Pete! Snacks and activities.

Noon Year’s Eve Story Time: 11:30 a.m. Dec. 29 at the Medina Library. All ages. Stories, songs and a confetti drop when the clock strikes 12 — pm, that is!
