British Council opens a new test center for IELTS on Computer (IoC)

For many who aspire to study in English-speaking countries, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a requirement that they must fulfill.

Since IELTS centers have slowly reopened post-pandemic, the IELTS on Computer (IoC) method of sitting for the exam has gained traction amongst test-takers because of the many benefits it brings: increased test availability, smaller groups, and faster results. Because of this, many students seem to prefer it to the regular version.

British Council Kuala Lumpur launches new test center

Since July, up to 78% of Malaysians have chosen the IoC. In order to address the need for more IoC centers, British Council Kuala Lumpur launched a new IoC flagship test center on Aug. 24, in conjunction with IELTS Day 2022. The event was attended by British Council partners, stakeholders, test takers, as well as the public.

The launch featured a visit to the new IoC center so that all attendees could experience and familiarize themselves with an IoC test. They were given the opportunity to go through the real test and obtain their results on both the Listening and Reading sections free of charge.

Fast results and better preparation

Open up to six days a week, the IoC center has the capacity to accommodate up to 500 test takers on a weekly basis. Test takers can get fast results within three to five days after they sit for the IoC exam.

“We provide convenience to our test takers so that they do not have to travel far to take their IELTS test and they can save time to use for better preparation and get a better score. IoC test centers are available in 10 major cities and towns nationwide (Pulau Pinang, Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya, Johor Bahru, Kuching, Sibu, Miri, Kota Kinabalu, and Melaka) and IELTS on Paper (IoP) is available in six major cities in Malaysia ”explains Steve Adams, East Asia Exams Director of the British Council.

Convenience and comfort are of utmost priority

“The IoC test center in British Council Kuala Lumpur has modern facilities and state-of-the-art audio equipment that will help test takers take the test with confidence and in comfort,” says Jazreel Goh, Director Malaysia of British Council.

Test takers pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in any chosen discipline at a higher education institution are qualified to enter the annual British Council IELTS Prize competition. They will also stand a chance to win scholarships worth RM45,000 (US $ 9,702.46) in total. Another scholarship offered by the British Council is the UK government’s GREAT scholarship worth 10,000 pounds – open to students who plan to pursue a one-year postgraduate course.
