Dazed on the Green, one of the biggest music festivals and cannabis expos in Northern California, will be taking place at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in Turlock on Sept. 17 and 18. The music festival and weed expo will be host to 44 musical acts and over 100 vendors.
Event producer and promoter Jason Williamson explained that this is the first year that Dazed on the Green will take place. Across both days, there will be five different genres of music.
On Saturday, there will be a classic rock stage, a stage for metal bands and a reggae stage. The day’s headliners include the Dead Kennedys, Queensrÿche, En Young, George Lynch and Dokken. On Sunday, fans will be treated to a rap and hip-hop stage, a punk rock stage and the returning reggae stage. The headlining acts for the Sunday show include Wiz Khalifa, E-40, Cypress Hill, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Marlon Asher and TSOL.
“I would describe the event as a music festival with a cannabis expo inside of it,” Willamson said. “This is going to be a major event with a little bit of something for everybody.”
The event has an age requirement of 21 years old and up, as there will be opportunities for attendees to purchase and consume cannabis products. All vendors who are attending are licensed and registered by the State of California and have permission to sell by the Department of Cannabis Control. Williamson thanked the many local authorities and governing bodies for helping in making sure that the event goes smoothly.
“Our very courteous Sheriff’s Office and the Turlock PD have been great to work with,” he said. “We’ve had our share of challenges just being a first-time event, but we’ve worked great together to ensure that we’ I will be fully prepared for the big crowd.”
According to Williamson, the capacity for each day at the Fairgrounds is 10,000 people. He fully expects both days to be sold out by the time the festival weekend arrives.
“This is a truly first of its kind festival in the area and we know people are really excited for the dates to come around,” he said.
Williamson explained that the reason for the event taking place in Turlock is because he and promoting partner Michael O’Leary were born and raised in Modesto.
“This was a dream of ours,” Williamson said. “There haven’t been any big festivals in our area, and the biggest concerts every year take place the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds, so we decided to do it here and we’ll see if folks come out.”
