Books for Kids literacy program seeking volunteers

Want to do something for a child that will pay dividends as another school year gets under way?

Consider volunteering for the Books For Kids Promoting Literacy program.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lakewood Ranch, which donates thousands of books to underserved schools in Manatee and Sarasota Counties, there are two programs volunteers may choose from: a weekly kindergarten program or a monthly program with first-, second- and third-graders .

Both are designed to improve reading comprehension and instill a love of reading in young learners.
