3 Schools Forced To Close Campuses As 18 Students & 3 Teachers Test Positive | Noida News

NOIDA: The campuses of three schools – two in Ghaziabad and one in Noida – have been closed after at least 18 students across the three institutions tested positive for Covid. Most of these cases (13) have been reported by Khaitan School in Noida where three teachers have also tested positive, health department officials said on Monday.
Of the five other students found to have Covid, two study at St Francis School and three at KR Mangalam School in Ghaziabad, the officials said. Both schools on Monday announced three days’ closure (April 11-13) as a precautionary measure to break the chain of infection. Online classes will continue for both schools.
Five students from the district have tested positive. As of now, the school premises are being sanitized. We will also conduct rapid antigen tests as a preventive measure, ”Dr RK Gupta, the district surveillance officer, told TOI.
Khaitan School informed Noida’s chief medical officer about the positive cases through a letter. The school has decided to close for physical classes this week. “We have decided to shift the school to online mode for the staff and the students. The school will be reopening on April 18, 2022, in an offline mode, ”the letter stated. According to the letter, four students each in classes 9 and 12, three students in class 6 and two in class 8 have tested positive for the infection.
The letter, signed by principal Rina Singh, also states that the school will conduct intensive sanitation drives on its premises and buses and all students from the classes that have reported cases will have to produce negative rapid antigen test reports before joining physical classes on April 18 .
District immunization officer Dr Sunil Dohre said the health department was still trying to get in touch with the students for confirmation and contact tracing would be initiated to ascertain the exact numbers of positive patients.
District surveillance officer Dr Manoj Kushwaha, however, told TOI that so far, only two students from the school were confirmed to have Covid-19 and their names were listed on the official portal. “For preventive measures, we are already organizing rapid sampling along with sanitization,” he added.
On Monday, Noida reported three new Covid-19 cases, which took the active cases in the city to 54. In Ghaziabad, two new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, while there are 28 active patients at present.
