MADISON LIBRARY EVENTS | The Northside Sun.

April at the Madison Library will be bringing lots of fun events to enjoy for all ages.

The month kicks off with National Library Week at the Madison Library. The theme this year is “Get connected at Your Library.”

“We have so many wonderful online resources available to our patrons including Ancestry, Newspapers.com, Learning Express Library, Rocket Languages, Tutor.com, and many more,” Branch Manager Tammie Terry said. “We encourage all of our patrons to visit our MCLS library website at mclsms.org and try all of the free resources available to them on our website. Then, stop by the Madison Library to register for our National Library Week giveaway, a Kindle Fire. ”

Register at the circulation desk anytime by April 9. All ages can register and the winner will be contacted on April 11.

This month is also National Afternoon Tea Month. The library will be offering a different take home packet each week, including a different tea bag and information about that particular tea. This will take place April 4-9, 11-16 and 18-23. The celebration will conclude on the 28th at 2 pm with Spring Tea Afternoon. Those at least 18 years old are welcome to join the library for afternoon tea, snacks and fun. Limited space is available and registration is required. Contact Tammie Terry at 601-856-2749 for more information and registration.

National Pet Day is April 11 and will give your furry friends an opportunity to partake in library fun. Register your pets all week for the chance to win a gift for your pet. Winners will be contacted by the 18th.

Also on April 11 is the Madison Avenue Book Club, which will be discussing Amor Towles’s The Lincoln Highway. The discussion will be at 6 pm

The real estate market has been a topic of conversation, and the library will be joining in on it this month. On April 16 at 10 am, first-time home buyers can join Dinorah Nations of McGee Realty Services and Lacey Hicks of Fairway Mortgage to prepare for homeownership. The seminar will provide complete step-by-step guidelines of the entire home buying process in both English and Spanish.

Stop by to see Madison Library’s Earth Day Book Display, which will be up all month long, and register to win a prize on Earth Day. Registration is from April 1 to April 22. The winner will be contacted on Earth Day, April 22.

This month will also continue Popcorn Fridays where patrons receive a bag of popcorn with a movie rental. Saturday Family Movie Nights On The Go will be April 9 and April 23. Families can pick out a movie and receive a treat bag of snacks for during the movie.
